The next movement . . . BCE/CE instead of BC/AD.
More Tennessee Volunteers helping out in Texas
February 25, 2008Davy Crockett isn’t the only one from Tennessee helping to make an upset in Texas.
Check out 11 Smith’s for Huckabee.
They want you to watch this video.
A sad story
February 23, 2008A young woman aborted her twins. Then in grief, hung herself.
The Guttmacher website has a presentation called “An overview of abortion in the United States” that I’ve been posting clips from. One of the slides, talks about the long-term safety of abortions. The last bullet is:
Abortion does not pose a hazard to women’s mental health.
Obviously, their study is not supported by this woman’s tragedy.
This issue alone is enough reason to stand with Mike Huckabee.
Condi: I’m not running for VP
February 23, 2008Evidently, Condi Rice isn’t interested in running for VP with McCain.
Socialized Medicine – an example of things to come
February 23, 2008This is why socialized medicine is not the answer. A woman developed an infection that put her in a coma during childbirth. After two weeks, the hospital told the husband they would pull the plug on her. Desparate, her husband nagged her back to consciousness.
I’m wondering about the quality of care. How much effort did they put into treating this woman? Scary.
Another reason to support Mike Huckabee. He supports the National Human Life amendment.
Feminist Philosophers
February 22, 2008Steven Covey says, “Begin with the end in mind.” So, my last sentence first.
In the case of the unborn, the innocent, the prevention of abortion is about protecting a life, not interfering with one.
I’m not sure how I got there, but, I ended up on a wordpress blog called Feminist Philosophers. There is a lot of very mature content, so, I’m not going to link it. But, I did check. If you google Feminist Philosopher you can get there.
Anyway . . . there is a post from one of the readers that suggests that since the government has control over women’s bodies (preventing abortion), then why shouldn’t the government force vasectomies. Filed under “reproductive rights.” The suggestion is that it will prevent unwanted pregnancies. Of course the post is a farce (I hope) and only intended to initiate thought that government preventing abortions is somehow unfair to the pregnant woman.
Government control of citizens is not new. In fact we face it everyday. As much as I wanted to drive my 1971 Buick GranSport at 120 mph everyday, it was illegal. The main reason is that it isn’t safe. Driving that fast may kill some innocent bystander (not to mention myself).
As much as some people want to walk through the mall shooting the lightbulbs out of the ceiling, gosh, it’s just not safe – innocent people could be killed.
I even saw a documentary on base jumping. People climb up a building and parachute off. Again, just not safe for the people walking the street beneath them (and once again illegal).
In the case of the unborn, the innocent, the prevention of abortion is about protecting a life, not interfering with one.
In their own words
February 22, 2008From Guttmacher
Causes of Abortion Related Deaths:
- Infection
- Hemorrhage
- Embolism
- Anethesia
- Other
Does the actual abortion fall into Other? Or should it have it’s own category?
I love this quote from the Guttmacher presentation
February 22, 2008“An Abortion is Safer the earlier in pregnancy it is performed.”
Really? Safer for who? I’m pretty sure someone dies during an abortion.
Reasons for Abortions – In their own words
February 22, 2008more from Guttmacher.
Reasons Given for Abortions after 16 weeks
Woman did not realize she was pregnant
Difficulty making arrangements for abortion
Afraid to tell parents or partner
Needed time to make decision
Hoped relationship would change
Pressure not to have abortion
Something changed during pregnancy
Didn’t know timing was important
Didn’t know she could get an abortion
Fetal abnormality diagnosed late
Other
Wow. Now it makes so much sense!??
John “Clinton” McCain
February 21, 2008Britt Hume just played a McCain clip. Did I just hear him say, “I did not have sexual relations with THAT woman.”?
