The True Nobel Prize Winner

May 19, 2008

In 2007, Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize.  His competition was Irena Sendler.  Here’s her obituary and story.

“I continue to have qualms of conscience that I did so little. I could have done more. This regret will follow me to my death.”

Imagine the world if we all had her commitment.

I got it from my favorite science site WattsupwiththatSnoop around his site and you will see that the justification for Gore winning the prize is crumbling.

Jack Hoogendyk officially running for Senator

May 19, 2008

In case you’ve been waiting for me to tell you, Jack Hoogendyk has turned in 30000 signatures to get on the ballot (2x what was required).

Last week I sent a letter to Senator Levin asking when he would sponsor a bill that would encourage domestic oil exploration, in addition to investing in alternative energy research. It might surprise you that he has not responded.

It is time for someone like Hoogendyk to represent Michigan.

I’ve donated to his campaign. If you are ready for a change in Michigan leadership, you should too.

You can do it here: Jack Hoogendyk for Michigan.

Raw Milk and Raw Meat

May 19, 2008

The government wants to protect you. So they take great efforts to keep you from purchasing raw milk. While it is still legal to purchase in Michigan, it is not easy. In some states, you cannot buy raw milk – it is illegal or so impractical, farmers cannot make a living.

I stumbled across this article while doing a little research on Bob Barr. No, he’s not a dairy farmer. But, he is enough of a libertarian to tell the government to butt out of our lives.

I am not particularly invested in the Raw Milk debate. But my wife is. I am invested in telling the government to butt out. Because, next, you won’t be able to buy farm eggs or order your steak rare at your favorite restaurant.

If you want to read a little about Bob Barr, here’s the link that led me here.
